Prolimatech Samuel 17
On the test bench today we had the Samuel 17, an all silver medium weight, six heatpipe CPU cooler from Prolimatech. Despite the a little bit tricky installation it actually is a quite nice cooler.
It doesn't come with a fan and the reason for that might be, well, pretty much anything you can think of. My thought is that Prolimatech knows that mod people and most others already have a fan laying around or perhaps is able to steal a fan from their previous setup.
If that however doesn't work and you don't have an extra fan just add 8-10 Euro and you have a complete CPU cooler. Also, you get the freedom to choose which fan you would like to use, if you want the most powerful one or perhaps the most quiet one. It's all up to you.
So, despite the tricky installation which really can't be a complaint as it just took some extra time, this isn't the 3 minute max competition after all, I think this cooler is doing it's job quite well.
I can surely recommend this product, both for you desktop users but also for those looking for a low profile and well performing cooler for your new HTPC setup.
But for those who don't want to throw out all their money on just a cooler and perhaps also on a fan, there are cheaper alternatives. So even if this cooler is performing well, it might not be for everyone.
