SOUNDPEATS Air6 HS

SOUNDPEATS Air6 HS

Today we're having a look at the latest addition to the SoundPeats lineup of earbuds, the Air6 HS. These are semi-in-ear earbuds similar to Samsung Galaxy Buds and Apple AirPods, but with a price tag that really anyone can afford.

As with all the previous SoundPeats earbuds the Air6 HS comes in a stylish and clean white box with details in a golden color. On the front we are promised Hi-Res Wireless Audio and LDAC, the side of the box reveals that the earbuds are using 13mm dynamic drivers, we should get up to 45 hours of playtime and the Air6 HS also features dual microphones for clear audio in calls.

The backside of the box tells us that these earbuds use Bluetooth version 6.0 and the driver elements should work between 20Hz and 40kHz. Each earbud features a 41mAh battery and the charging case features a 500mAh battery - which together should give us up to 45 hours of playtime and about 9 hours before the earbuds need to be recharged.

Inside the box we can find the charging case which of course is similar to previous models, but this time a little more toned down on colors which certainly fits those who don't want as much color splash in their life. The charging case looks very clean and stylish. On the bottom of the charging case we find the USB charging port, on the front is the opening of the lid as well as a status LED. Opening up the charging case reveals the earbuds with a similar safe holding design as previous models from SoundPeats.

We also find the protective film on the earbuds that needs to be removed and then the earbuds replaced in the case to activate them for pairing with a phone. The earbuds themselves are almost completely black with the SoundPeats logo on them barely visible.

As we can see in the photos these are not the in-ear earbuds with silicone tips, these are more in the style of the Galaxy Buds and AirPods that just slip into your ear (semi-in-ear) and hangs there. Personally I'm not very fond of these as my ears normally don't work for this kind of earbuds. However, some years has passed by since I last tested similar earbuds and today these seem to fit very well in my ears. Of course, my ears might or most probably have changed in form over the years and now allowing me to use this kind of earbud design.

For those who have seen my review of the SoundPeats Clip1, POP Clip and PearlClip Pro, know that I said that you could barely feel those earbuds. Comparing with the Air6 HS, the previous models are of course hardly noticable, but the Air6 HS are completely different. These earbuds gives.. the sound of using silicone tipped earbuds or over ear headphones - direct sound into your ears.. But! as you can't feel the earbuds in your ear, you get the feeling that you are listening to music on speakers in a room - on a very high volume, if you want to.

At first I thought the sound felt a bit muffled when comparing to other earbuds, headphones and regular speakers. However, this was just something I had to get used to as it didn't need more than 15-20 minutes before my ears had adjusted together with some EQ changes.

The bass is also a bit different than I'm used to, after listening a while with the Air6 HS I appreciate and understand the bass better. The bass is not as "feelable" as with for example over the ear headphones or silicone tipped earbuds. However, the bass is loud and sounds good. I'm no ear specialist, but I'm sure that the frequencies that we hear are better for our ears than the frequencies we don't hear as we can adjust the volume on something we hear, but it is impossible on something we don't hear. So I guess that it is better that there is not so much vibration and very low bass as you don't hurt your ears as much. Also, silicone tipped earbuds also offer isolation in a way that gives you more vibration into your ears - so it might just be that.

However, the bass sounds really good in music. I always test all earbuds, headphones and speakers with a wide range of music to make sure all my favourite songs sound as I'm used to.

Another thing with the Air6 HS not being silicone tipped earbuds is that you, as I said, don't have the same isolation. So these act like something between silicone tipped earbuds and the clip-on earbuds we've tested previously. But I do feel that the clarity is much better with the Air6 HS compared to clip-on earbuds. Also, there was no popping, no noise, no nothing - it was just pure music and when you turn the music off - it is as quiet as if you didn't have the Air6 HS in your ears. This is something I noticed and wrote in my first review on SoundPeats products, the Air5 Pro - there was always a little noise and popping at first, however this was fixed after a firmware upgrade.

As usual there is no charger included, but you can use any charger capable of 2-5W output and the charging case accepts an USB-C cable. The Air6 HS is Hi-Res Audio Certified and the LDAC supports high-fidelity 24bit/96kHz transmission. The earbuds also feature multipoint connection, so you can connect the Air6 HS both to a phone for calls and to your computer for music - for example - and the earbuds switch automatically when you get a call on your phone.

After using the Air6 HS for several hours I can't say I got any fatigue at all, these are today the most comfortable earbuds I've ever used. They sit perfectly in my ears and they don't fall out no matter what activity I'm doing. The audio quality is really something I like, not the best bass and certainly not best in all categories. But for the price these are available at and for the quality of sound you get, these are amazing. I can honestly say that I don't understand how these can be as "cheap" as they are as they sound close to both the Samsung and Apple variants, even though they subjectively have a little bit different sound profile. I have of course not tested this with an audio scope and visualizing the curves of audio, but my own experience say that they sound a little different - but for 80% of people, there is certainly NO need to purchase the 4-5 times more expensive brands as the Air6 HS gives you all you need.

The Air6 HS are great quality for the money and if you are looking for something that looks 4-5 times more expensive, performs more or less as such but costs a fraction of them, you should certainly give the SoundPeats Air6 HS a go.
