Soundpeats PearlClip Pro

Soundpeats PearlClip Pro

Another pair of earbud headphones are on our testbench today, we're having a look at the Soundpeats PearlClip Pro. These earbuds have a, well special design. This is not your regular in-ear earbuds, they are certainly not your standard over or on your ear. They are a mix of several different designs and gives you some new features, while obviously removing some features.

Let's dive straight in. These earbuds comes in a similar packaging as the Air5 Pro we tested previously by Soundpeats, stylish and fresh. On the back of the package we get some specifications. The PearlClip Pro features Bluetooth 5.4, frequency response range of 20Hz to 40kHz and a working distance of up to 10 meters. Play time is expected to by 6 hours and with a fully charged charging case we should get a total of around 24 hours of play time.

Both the earbuds and the charging case use Lithium Polymer batteries, earbuds with a capacity of 35mAh and the charging case sports 350mAh. A quick charge of 10 minutes in the charging case gives the earbuds up to two hours of playtime.

All the usual certifications with CE, FCC, UK CA and so on.

These earbuds comes in not only black and white, but also in beige and purple color. So either you have your favourite color and it all the time, or you need to get one of each to color match to your outfit for the day - Soundpeats makes that possible! The one we got on our testbench today is of course the black version as seen by the packaging.

Opening the package the charging case is revealed which looks similar to the Air5 Pro, but at the same time a completely different story. Pairing and reset button is on the front instead of at the bottom, the charging port is on the back and the whole charging case has a high gloss finish instead of the more matt color of the Air5 Pro.

The charging case when opened reveals the earbuds with small plastic pull away tabs to isolate the charging contacts of the earbuds from the charging case. Removing these tabs and placing the earbuds back in the charging case both starts charging the earbuds but also starts them up for the first time, making them available to pair with your Bluetooth master devices.

Something that is completely different to the Air5 Pro also is that the PearClip Pro is identical in design between the "left" and "right" earpieces. The quotes around left and right is the key here, you can use both of them for left or both for right - not at the same time of course. But depending on where you place them in the charging case, they can switch between left and right.

So, for example if you only want to use one ear bud at all times, perhaps in your left ear - you get double the playtime as you only use one ear bud at a time and when one is out of battery, you can just take the other one from the charging case and place the out of battery one back in the charging case.

The earbuds themselves has a rubber silicone finish as well as similar high gloss, almost mirror finish which also acts as touch surfaces - much like the Air5 Pro earbuds. Buttons are of course configurable in the PeatsAudio app available for both Android and iOS, with single/double/triple clicks and long press functionality. These earbuds feature 12mm dual magnet drivers.

The PearlClip Pro also offers dual device connection, so you can easily connect them both to your phone and for example a computer at the same time. Music on the computer and when a call comes in on the phone, it switches over to the call ready for you to answer or decline the call, either on your phone directly or with the touch controls on the earbuds.

The design of the PearlClip Pro certainly differs from the Air5 Pro and well, most other earbuds or headphones. To fit these earbuds to your ear, you place them over the edge of your ears, just hanging into the ear but not fully cover your ear channel - this is called open-ear clip design. You sort of clip them to the back of your ear. Depending on your ear size this is either a perfect fit or an ok fit. These should work for most people I guess and both me and my wife has tried these. For me, having a little larger ears, they fit ok. A note here also, there are memory steel wires inside the earbuds, so you can form them slightly to better fit your ears.

Quite comfortable, I can't feel them, at all... Surely, the sound isn't the absolute best, IF you compare to in-ear, on or over the ear or anything else that isn't this kind of open-ear design. Do not buy these earbuds if you want bass, at least not deep bass. The volume isn't the greatest either, even after dynamic EQ settings completed.

However, for the design, the open-ear design. This is actually quite amazing. If you don't blast on with the highest volume you can really have a conversation with someone while still listening to music - INSANE! This is like going to a shop where they have music playing from the speakers in the roof, not those shops that blast the music on highest volume, but rather soft and enjoyable while you shop around. People around you will not really hear the music while you can listen to music and still talk to people around you.

Bass is of course nothing really to talk about, sure if you press the earbuds into your ears or if you have smaller ears so your ear channel gets more covered by the earbuds, you get higher bass volume - but that is not what this product is for. You have better products if you want the bass. Treble is quite high on standard setting but can of course be tweaked to your liking.

The audio quality is certainly great for this kind of earbuds.

Heading over to my wife for testing. She has smaller ears, as most women around the world - there are exceptions of course, same with men. In this case my wife has smaller ears than me and they fit closer to her ear channels, so she both experience higher volume and - its a personal opinion, its her perception - higher bass than what I feel like. Of course, we listen differently to music, noise, treble and bass - no question about it. But for my wife it was a quite comfortable and good sound. She feels the same with the fitting, it fits well and they can't be noticed, either when using them for a short period or for a couple of hours.

No matter how much heavy metal you listen to, you won't be able to loose these earbuds. The actual design of these earbuds makes it very hard for them to drop out, no matter how you move your head. Unfortunately it is not the season and I don't have any amusement parks around where I live or work, but it would have been fun to test these out going in loops and rolls on a rollercoaster - I'm positive that these won't fall out even then.

Pricing is always a bit tricky with different currencies, but an average between USD $59.99 and USD $79.99, all depending on where you live and if the "president" is in a good mood or not - not really sure which is best, good or not..

Anyhow, as long as you don't expect heavy bass, these earbuds are amazing and gives a couple of options and features that you don't get with regular in-ear earbuds or headphones.

Certainly an excellent product!
