Vizo Voyager & Propeller

Christopher Fredriksson

Both products is tested in our Antec P182 case together with our test computer, which is based on;

  • Intel Core2Duo E6600 @ 2.40GHz 4MB
  • 2GB Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400
  • XFX XXX 630MHz 768MB GeForce 8800GTX
  • 3x Western Digital 250GB
  • Antec Truepower 1000W
  • Standard cooling for the case. 1 exhaust; back, 1 intake; front. ( top exhaust turned off )

Ambient temperature is always 21 degrees Celsius in our test lab.
Temperature is measured under the heat sink on the graphics card near the GPU core with Propeller, while we measure under the circuit board on the hard disk drive with the Voyager mounted.

Final thoughts
Both the products perform very well and both are very quiet, except for the Propeller when you add some speed.

The Voyager lowers the temperature on any disk given, but it would have been nice with a 3 pin connector with a fan speed cable as well so that we could both monitor and control the speed.

The Propeller should be equipped with fan guards on either both sides or at least one side with the possibility to change side to fit your needs when installed. For the money they want for the product it should come with a heat controlled speed regulator as well.

Perhaps we will see updated versions of the two in the future.

Both products feel like they are made out of sturdy material to last at least as long as the hard drive (Voyager) and at least as long as the rest of the system (Propeller).

Also, I would like to thank Jill at Vizo who sent us the samples.
